Supplement to Oconec-1 Final Evaluation e

FLOW RESTRICTOR We have reviewed the Mechanical aspects of the flow restrictor in the core flooding nozzle, including design consideration, fabrication and installation procedures. A section of stainless steel pipe was thickened by veld overlay on its inside surface and then machined into the designed shape of the flow restrictor.

This flow restrictor replaced the existing thermal sleeve and was installed by welding.

All applicable thermal and flow-induced transient loadings were I

considered in the stress and fatigue evaluations on the weld and the restrictor design. The applicant states that all applicable require-ments of the ASME Section III Code were met.

We find that the use of the ASME Section III Code requirements provides an acceptable basis for design fabrication and installation of the core flooding nozzle flow restrictors for the Oconee 1 Plant.
