' 'k, July.19, 1972 N0'TE TO FILES TELECON BETWEEN ~C. R. VAN NIEL, OSB,.I. A. PELTIER, PWR-4 AND PAUL H. BARTON, KEN S. CANADY AND J. E. SMITH, DUKE POWER COMPANY -

REACTOR OPERATOR EXAMINATIONS

- July 14, 1972 Per agreement at the July 13, 1972 meeting at the Oconee site, I. A. Peltier and C. Van Niel called Duke to give Operating Licensing Branch's position

- with regard to giving licensing exams in December 1972 and January 1973.

P. Collins, OL3, requested that Duke present him with a letter stating Duke's requirements for exams in order to make a commitment for three

-licensed. operators during Unit 1 startup. On the phone the Duke people became confused as to what their own internal requirements are.

So the way it was lef t'is that Duke will give us a letter on this subject af ter reaching internal agreement. In the meantime the next amendment (July 26, 1972) will not change the current tech spec in this matter which calls for only

.C two licensed operators during startup. This tech spec is not satisfactory to us but Duke will be held to the three licensed operators once the adequate exam schedule is established.
