OCO:iEE fiUCLEAR STATIO:1 Uti!TS 1,' 2, NiD 3 VISITATION This visit to tne Oconee Nuclear Station was made primarily to review
.the procedures being used by the utility to implement the existing Appendix B of the Technical Specifications.
A list of utility personnel contacted and staff representatives making visitation is enclosed.
f The.11cansce's; progra.n is itemized as follows:
- 1. -Each week on Thursday visual inspections are performed from the intake structure in an attempt to identify species, count numbers and estimate length of impinged fish.
This method appears to be of limited value from a practical. point-of-vied since observations are difficult to make and accuracy of assessment is questionable.
2.
Six selected intake screens are pulled every two weeks on Thursday to count the nunbars of impinged fish and identify species and size I
of fish. Reports are made to the appropriate governmental agencies j-uoth. state and Fedaral as required by the Technical Specifications.
The intake scri:en removal process was observed by the NRC repre-i l-l sentatives of several sample screens.
