Y /R n Application for. Renewal of Construction Permit y, g

Dear Mr. Giambusso:

We hereby apply for an extension of time for the completion of Oconce Nu-cicar Station Unit 1 as covered by Provisional Construction Permit No.

CPPR-33.

The original construction permit called for completion of the facility by February 28, 1971. This date was extended to September 30, 1971 by your order dated February 27, 1971, to January 31, 1972 by your order dated August 27, 1971, and to June 30, 1972 by your order dated January 28, 1972.

As mentioned in our letters of Feoruary 19, August 6, and

December 20, 1971, delays produced by late delivery of major reactor coplant components, the replaccatnt of reactor coolcnt pumps, and excessive vibration of the reactor coolant pumps have extended the original schedule considerably.

In addition to these delays, damage to the secan generators and to the reactor vessel internals by loose parts which was reported to you by my letter of April 4,1972 has again extended the anticipated construction completion date.

We now expect that the facility will be ready, for fuel loading about January'13,1973.

We hereby request that the latest completion date specified in Construction Permit No. CPPR-33 be extended from June 30, 1972 to May 1, 1973 to provide b

a suitable margin.

Very truly yours.
