Dear Sir:
i
SUBJECT:
Water Rod Lower End Plug Wear, RO 79-25/lT, Supplement I.
This letter provides supplemental information to reference (b) previously requested during a meeting with Vermont Yankee, the NRC staff and General Electric on December 11, 1979.
Attached is a loose parts analysis developed by GE which addresses the possibility that the water rod lower end plug would wear to an extent that the shank would break. Vermont Yankee has reviewed this analysis and concurs with the stated conclusions that generation of a loose par is not expected and if a loose part is generated there would be no unacceptabl ensuing consequences.
Please note that the analysis has been determined to be neral Electric Company Proprietary Information and an Affidavit presented t NRC with GE slide material on 12/11/79 at the above noted meeting also applies to this analysis.
See reference (d).
We trust the above supplied information is satisfactory; however, should you. desire any additional information, please contact us.
Aco)
Very truly yours, 5
