Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation ATTENTION:
Mr. T. A. Ippolito, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No. 3 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.
20555 BRUNSWICK STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 1&2 DOCKET NOS. 50-325 AND 50-324 LICENSE NOS. DPR-71 AND DPR-62 EMERGENCY PLANNING
Dear Mr. Ippolito:
On December 31, 1979, Carolina Power & Light Company (CP&L) submitted a revised Emergency Plan which was written to meet the requirements of Regulatory Guide 1.101 and the current Appendix E to 10JFR50. On March 10, 1980, NUREG 0654 was issued for interim use and comment. The Emergency Preparedness Task Force discussed the evaluation of our December 31, 1979 submittal against NUREG 0654 during a site visit on March 25-26, 1980. Based on our reviews of NUREG 0654, discussions held with the Task Force at the March meeting, and your letter dated April 15, 1980, CP&L is in the process of implementing appropriate changes.
It is CP&L's intention to submit a revised Emergency Plan in August 1980. Following that submittal, we will work closely with the NRC Staff in order to obtain the NRC's approval by November 1,1980. CP&L intends to develop taplementing procedures for the plan by December 1,1980. This will allow the desired implementation date for the plan of January 1,1981 to be met.
If you have any questions on this subject, please contact our staff.
Yours very truly,
](/
