%.'.....o JUN 131980 DOCKET NO.:
70-2838 APPLICANT:
Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company, et al.
FACILITY:
Wm. H. Zimer Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1
SUBJECT:
LICENSE AMENDMENT APPLICATION DATED APRIL 10, 1980
Background
Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company, Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Company, and The Dayton Power and Light Company are licensed under NRC Materials License No. SNM-1823 for the receipt and storage of fuel and accessories for eventual use in the Wm. H. Zimmer Nuclear Power Station, Unit 1.
The license was scheduled to expire May 31, 1980, but remains in effect because the subject April 10, 1980, application was timely filed.
j The application requests that the license expiration date be extended to November 2,1981.
Discussion The need for an extension of the license expiration date is due to con-struction and licensing delays. Mr. Greg Ficke of Cincinnati Gas &
Electric Company advised me that the November 2,1981, proposed expiration i
date was arbitrary and that they had no objection to an expiration date of November 30, 1981, so as to better coincide with our usual procedures.
It is noted that extending the expiration date does not affect the radio-logical safety, nuclear safety, or other parameters on which the issuance of the license was based.
Recomendation On the basis of the above, I recommend that the license extension, as requested by the licensees, be approved.
