Dear Ms. Johnston:
This is in response to your letter of May 15, 1980, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, documents pertaining to Dr.
Joseph M. Hendrie's participation in the Diablo Canyon licensing proceeding, the Hosgri fault or offshore faulting around Diablo Caynon, USGS studies of the Hosgri fault, and applicable seismic regulations and regulatory grides.
Please find enclosed NUREG-75/087, Standard Review Plan, Sections 2.5.1 through 2.5.5., 3.2.1 and 3.7.1 through 3.7.4, which is subject to your request.
In his position as consultant, Dr. Hendrie read and edited the 1975 Standard Review Plan.
Also enclosed are Regulatory Guides 1.12,
- 1. 29, ' l.100, 1.122, 3.17, and 4. 7.
The general design criteria for nuclear power plants are set forth in Appendix A to 10 CFR Part 50 (copy enclosed).
In addition, Dr. Hendrie served as a member of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) in a consultant capacity from September 1966 until May 1972.
The documents listed on Appendix A pertain to ACRS Annual Meetings held and ACRS Reports issued during Dr. Hendrie's tenure with ACRS.
These documents have already been placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) for public inspection and copying.
Copies of these documents may be purchased by writing directly to the PDR,1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, DC 20555. The charge for reproducing records located in the PDR is eight cents ($0.08) per page, as specified in 10 Cr,1 9.14(a). Upon your agreement to pay the reproduction charges, the PDR will arrange for the records to be reproduced by Potomac Research, Inc.,
a private reproduction contractor servicing the PDR.
You will be billed by Potomac Research, Inc., for the reproduction charges, plus tax and postage.
For your information, in 1976 the NRC received a request for all records relating to (1) the effects fo earthquakes on nuclear plents; (2) seismic considerations in the design, construction and operation of nuclear power plants and seismic activity and faulting in the U.S.; and (3) meetings and correspondence between AEC/NRC and USGS. Over 4,000 documents were made available in che PDR as a result of that request and are filed
