Subject: Inspection 50-271/79-14
This refers to your letter dated April 29, 1980, in response to our letter
dated April 3,1980.
Thank you for informing us of the corrective and preventive actions documented
in your letter. These actions will be examined during a subsequent inspection
of your licensed program.
In addition, it is our understanding, based on telephone discussions between
Mr. R. Leach of your staff and Mr. J. Serabian of our office on May 12, 1980,
and between Mr. D. Weyman of your staff and Mr. Serabian on May 20, 1980,
that seven additional instruments with beta radiation survey capability have
been acquired and are now on site.
It is alta our understanding that the plant
staff (e.g., maintenance, instrumentation and operations groups) will be
re-instructed in the proper use of Radiation Work Permits (RWP) with emphasis
placed on the proper use of Routine RWPs by June 1,1980.
