An emergency planning review team from the Nucinar P

Rogulatory Comminaion (NRC) will visit the McGuire nuclear 1, -

power plunt, being built by Duke Power Company near Charlotte,

North Carolina, on June 17-18.

The purpose of the visit is to evaluate upgrading of the plant'u emergency planning since 4,4j.

the Three Mile 1aland accident in March, 1979.

On June 17, the team will make a tour of the McGuire plant fjf,*.,{ '.

site.

That tour will not be open to members of the press or the public.

t On June 18, beginning at 8:30 a.m.,

thoro will be a technical review meeting with officials of Duke Power Company at the

'P NcCuire Training & Technology Center, located off N.C.

Highvuy 73, adjacent to the McGuire plant, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

That mooting will be open to observat.,on by membero of the preso and the public.

On June 10, at 7:00 p.m.,

there will be a meeting at the samo location for the purpose of hearing public comments on 3

the subject of emergency planning.
