Subcequent to trancmittal of our previous interim report on February 29, 1980 on the Component Qualification Test Documentation Re-Review, CPCo has received new direction from URC - Nuclear Reactor Regulation (URR) on equipment qualification requirements. To ecmply with these requirements as requested by D F Ross Jr's letter on " Qualification of Safety - Related Electrical Equipment", dated February 21, 1980, CPCo is developing a pro-gram and schedule to complete the review and provide the associated docu-mentation requested by that letter into the Midland FSAR. The program vill include both the Bechtel and B&W supplied electrical equipment.

Once our planning is complete and all tasks related to equipment qualifica-tion are integrated into the remaining pro. ject work schedule ve vill submit our final 50.55(e) report. At that point any required additienal informa-tion vill be submitted to NER in accordance with the instructions contained hd in D B Boss Jr's February 21, 1980 letter.

The status of the Bechtel component qualification program is su:=arized in j

being accomplished by Bechtel under MCAR-25 In the last interim report, we statec that we would include a Qualification Test Status Report for the ]}&W supplied equipment in this report. This re-port has not been developed because that information will be included in the documentation required by the aforementioned NRC letter.

Another report, either interim or final, will be sent on or before Sept-ember 19, 1980.

1.

Since the last report (Interim Report 7, February 1,1980), Noncon-formance Reports (NCRs) 1759, 1760, 2660, 2661, and 2662 have been dispositioned, and qualification test reviews (QTRs) for Material Raquisitions 7220-J-201, 7220-J-202, and 7220-M-129B have been clo sed. Efforts to close the remaining 19 open QTRs and to disposi-tion the remaining 30 NCRs are continuing.

As previously identified in MCAR 25, only the Foxboro transmitters have been unable to meet qualification requirements to date.

The Qualification Open Action Summary (QOAS) has been developed to provide a method of tracking open items generated by the rereview program, as well as by normal review of qualification documentation.

Because the QOAS will continue to be updated and reissued periodi-cally, it will continue to provide a system to ensure the tracking and closure of all identified open items.

4.

Establishment of the QOAS and QTSR, emphasis provided through MCAR 25, training sessions, and proposed and implemented procedural revisions provide adequate corrective measures to prevent recurrence of the problems identified by MCAR 25.

The final MCAR 25 report will be issued August 31, 1980, following implementation of the remaining procedure revisions.
