50-320 Mr. R. C. Arnold Senior Vice President Tills DOCUMENT CONTAINS 100 Interpace Parisay P0OR QUALITY PAGES Parsippany,flJ 07054

Dear Mr. Arnold:

Subject:

TMI-2 Reactor Building Entry As a follow up to your letter of April 30, 1930, (TLL 210), subject as above, we have reviewed your proposed modifications for the' reactor building, namely, the use of the Mine Safety and Appliances Company breathing units in lieu of.the Bio Marine Bio Pac 60 units. Based on our review of the modi-fications to the entry program and our audit of the additional training and testing to accommodate the change in breathing units as described in your letter, approval is hereby granted to make one entry into the TMI-2 reactor building now scheduled to occur on May 20, 1980.

It is my understanding that you will initiate purging of the air lock on Monday, May 19, 1980.

I expect that early notification will be made to PEMA, Dauphin County Civil Defense and other local elected officials prior to the purging of the air lock and entry into the reactor building.

Sincerely,
