Description of Occurrence:

During routine fish impingement mo'nitoring 1/14/75, using procedure 1607.10, Monitoring Fish Impinged on ANO-1 Intake Screens', 3048 pounds of fish were collected during a 24-your sample period beginning at 8:00 a.m. on 1/13/75 and ending 8:00 a.m.

1/14/75. A mixture of gizzard and threadfin shad made up 99.9% of the total weight of fish.

Other fish made up 0.1% of the total weight.

Threadfin shad made up 95% of the total number of shad. Water temperature was 43*F at 8:00 a.m.

  • 1/14/75 and ambient air temperature was 13 F.

'Ihe apparent cause was due to a natural die off of threadfin shad during the winter season, 9.

Analysis of Occurrence:

'Ihe only noticeable Environmental Impact was the remaval of the above mentioned fish from the lake. 'Ihe fish that were collected were dis-posed of through land fill operation.

Corrective Action:

Long term studies are in progress to determine the effects of plant o}ieration on the aquatic. ecosystems of the Dardanelle Reservoir.

Data from this report and other data obtained is fed back into these studies to determine what changes might be made to the studies in. order to ensure that adequate data is obtained for evaluating plant impact.

Review by Arkansas Power G' Light Company and its consultants of the results of these studies will determine what corrective action might j
