IN RE: FLORIDA POWER CORPORATION CRYSTAL RIVER NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT D

a DOCKET NO. 50-302

Dear Mr. Schwencer:

This is in response to your letters and enclosures dated July 25, 1973, and July 30, 1973, re11uesting additional information for completion of the Crystal River Unit #3 licensing review, Docket No. 50-302.

Your enclosures indicated AEC position statements that represent conditions to be met by Florida Power Corporation in regard to Crystal River Unit #3 prior to completion of your licensing review. You requested that we furnish completely adequate responses to the position statements by August 25, 1973,and August 30, 1973, respectively.

In realizing both the AEC's and our desire to maintain the licensing review schedule for Crystal River Unit #3, we will make every attempt to address ourselves fully and responsibly to your Requests for Additional Information. We will submit our responses on August 30, 1973. However, we feel that the extremely short time allowed for our assessment, preparation, review, editing, reproduction and delivery of our responses may have the effect of lowering the quality and completeness of some of the responses.

In the event that this is the case for some items, they will be omitted from our submittal of August 30 and submitted as soon thereafter as possible.

This should enable you to maintain a reasonable scheduling of your review staff and enable us to respond to each item in a responsible manner.

We hope that this is an acceptable approach. Please contact us if further discussion or clarification is desired.

Yours very truly, 428Src nw
