In the discussion pr=14=i== y to the technical discussibn Duke stated that May 18, 1973 is the earliest it will need relief to go above 75%
power with a most probable date of May,22, 1973. Warren Owen also informed me (on the side) that Duka has lost'one of its large generating units from service sad therefore the Oconee unit is now a saast for summer service. Also, in the preliminary discussion the urgency to resolve the gemorie issues involved in fuel densification was stressed by B&W and I
the staff.
f B&W made a presentation to the staff intended to support its contention i
that it has about 18% conservatism _
'reaulting from the as built fuel parameters over the TAFY model. The staff made a' presentation outlining its problems with TAFY. Duke stated its willingness to'take the 25% reduction in TAFT and to accept the penalties in operating i
flexibility.
l The meeting ended with the staff's commitment to state its final position by May 9, 1973 and acting upon that Duke and B&W would prepara the resultant analysis and toch spee changes and meet with the staff on May 15, 1973.
