g 3 n7z J. M. Hendrie, Deputy Director for Technical Review Directorate of Licensing TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE REQUEST - OCONEE UNIT 1 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS -
RADI0 ACTIVE RELIASES Technical assistance from Technical Review is requested on the following reactor plant.
Name:
Oconee Unit No. 1 Status: Operating License Docket:
50-269 3 ranch: PVR-4 Project Leader:
I. A. Peltier Review Branches: Effluent Treatment Systeme, Accident Analysis, Site Analysis The Oconee Unit 1, Duke Power Company, has a 3&W nuclear steam supoly system. The plant was designed by Duke and Bechtel.
It has undergone Licensing and ACRS review and is scheduled for licensing in January 1973.
However, the technical specifications were prepared prior to proposed Appendix I guidance. The Assistant Director for Site Safety has recom-monded (see his memo to DeYoung dated May 25, 1972) that the technical specifications be revised to conform to the versions which incorporate Appendix I requirements. The purpose of this request is to obtain Technical Review assistance in preparing these specifications and in reviewing them in their final form.
Duke has been provided a copy of the Maine Yankee technical specifications which we believe to be an acceptable version incorporating Appendix I requirements.
Enclosed with this request are copies of the current Cconee specifications and the Maine Ya,nkee specificatiens. Please provide us with specific guidance regarding the required revision so we can pass it on to Duke.
De technical specifications must be approved and printed in final form no later than August 30, 1972 to meet our licensing schedule and therefore, it is urgent that we be specific in our guidance to Duke since ti=c does not permit generalities that may result in a number of turn-around sviews.
Please advise the project leader as soon as possible as to when io expect 1
specific guidance so the Orange Book Schedules can be updated.
