USE OF ENERGY TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING CENTER FOR MECHANICAL ENGINEERING REVIEW FOR MIDLAND PLANT The NRC staff has enlisted the support of the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC) to assist our Mechanical Engineering Branch with their review of the applications for operating licenses for Midland Plant, Units 1 & 2.
Accordingly, we request that ETEC receive copies of all future correspondence related to Midland mechanical engineering matters,4ncluding soil and structural interfaces with piping and system components, associated soil remedial actions and related quality assurance activities. This request includes all FSAR revisions after those which were forwarded ETEC as a result of a previous telephone request to Mr. J. Zabritski of your organization.
Further requests for transmittal of specified documents to ETEC will be made l
in the future relative to an independent piping stress analysis to be conducted
.by ETEC. Also, cur c.n tract with ETEC does not presently include the area of inservice testing of oumps and valves and further transmittal requests, possibly for another consultant, may be made for this portion of our review.
