!;0TE 'IO FILE MARCP. 28, 1973 TELECON 3/23/73 - DUKE & BSW CONCERNING OUR OCONEE UNIT 2/3 REVIEW SCHEDULE AND OUTSTANDING ITD!S Canady (Duke), Cotton (Duke), Straub (B&W) and Steinke (B&W) called to discuss our recent letter to Duke on the Oconee 2/3 review schedule and outstanding itens still under review. The following understandings resulted from the conversation.

1.

Fuel densification - Duke will submit by May 1, 1973 an interim report on fuel densification for Unit 2.

This report in conjunction with the Oconee Unit 1 evaluation scheduled for completion by the staff by May 1, 1973 should provide the basis for the staff to reach an interim fuel densification position on Unit 2.

The final Unit 2 fuel densification report will be submitted several nonths later but prior to Unit 2 fuel loading (Aug. 15, 1973).

2.

ECCS - B&W and the staff both hold the assumption that complete resolution of ECCS problems on Unit 1 will complete ECCS review on Units 2/3 but the results of the evaluation now in process on Unit 1 cannot be prejudged at this time (the staf f is still waiting for the results of the Westinghouse tests performed for Duke). On this assumption all ECCS information from Duke will be in to the staff prior to May 1, 1973.

3.

Tech Specs - Duke Plans to answer our Dec. 15, 1972 letter on tech specs prior to May 1, 1973. Any renaining items of contention will be the subject of a final meeting on tech specs. Tech spec changes resulting from Fuel Densification will have to be treated as separate items after May 1, 1973.

4.

Steamline Break - Duke's subnittal on high energy line rupture analysis and fix is due April 25, 1973, before the May 1, 1973 deadline.

5.

Other - Duke expects to respond to other letters such as " Racking Out of Control Circuits" and " Valve Testing" prior to the May 1, 1973 deadline.

Duke will not respond by letter to our schedule letter. This telecon is sufficient.
