Dear F3cyd:

1 Adve been following with interest Long Island Lighting Cc,mpany and its problems in trying to avert bankruptcy.

It is obvious, not-withstanding all of the complexities, that bankruptcy for such a major utility would be traumatic and detrimental to the best interests of both the users and the sh.reholders.

It seems to me that a project that is so near completion, such as Shoreham Nucle ar Plant, should be permitted to be completed and that an evacuation plna could be developed.

It is inconceivable that $4.1 billion could have been, completed without regulatory officials recognizing that an evacuation plan and other requirements would be necessary.

I strongly feel that Long Island Lighting Company should be permitted to complete and start using the Shoreham Nuclear Plant.

I wanted to make you aware that, while we are not living in New York, this is a matter of significant importance to a number of utilities and perhaps '.his will be a good test of what we need to do to make effective use of nuclear power.

Best wishes.
