'!e would like to advise you of a letter (Enclosure 1) dated August 16, 1979 to the Office of Ins::ection and Enfcccement from the Washington Puclic Power Supply System (WPPSS).
In that letter WPPSS acvised us tnat a review of the equipment and systems installec in tne control rcor of the WPPSS Nuclear Project No. 2 uncovered over 150 instances of viciations of separation cri teria.
In view of the large number of violations ci ed in tne WPPSS letter for the control room, and the apparent ease with which tney cccur anywnere in the plant, we equire that you conduct a plant-wice field audit of your installed electrical equipment and systems to catermine confccmance with your statec_'

Encicsure 2 specifies the precedures to be usec for conducting an electrical separation field audit at your facility.
In audits perfor~ed at other facilities, we noted tao major discrepancies:
(1) the aucitors incluced personnel wno had performed the initial design anc installation, and (2) the review concentrated on Class IE circuits tc the exclusion of associated ci rcui ts.
Please pay particular attention to these two areas.
