Dear Mr. Keppler:
Commonwealth Edison Company notified your office en November 29, 1979 of the failure of two (2) field anchorheads for the horizontal tendens used to post-tension the concrete (primary) containment on Byron Units 1 and 2.
That notification was made under 10 CFR 50.55(e).
References (a) and (b) contained interim reports concerning these failures, as well as two (2) additional failures.
As indicated in the attached third interim report, testing has not yet reached a point where conclusive results are available to resolve this ceficiency.
Final resolution is now scheduled for June 30, 1980.
The re fore, Commonwealth Edison requests an extension to that time for submittal of the final report.
