NOTICE OF VIOLATION Based on the results of NRC inspections conducted on January 21, 1980, and December 20, 1979, one of your activities appear to be in noncompliance with NRC regulations as indicated below:

Contrary to 10 CFR 71.5, shipments of licensed radioactive material, delivered to a carrier for transport, did not meet applicable requirements of the DOT regulations.

Specifically, shipments No. 79-44 and No. 80-6 when observed at the Beatty, Nevada, waste disposal site on January 20, 1980, and at the Richland, Washington, waste disposal site on December 20, 1979, did not have the markings " Radioactive LSA" on the outside of the cask as required by 49 CFR 173.392 (c)(8) of the DOT regulations.

This item is considered Category IV.
