Ref. 3, page 2, paragraph A2 states that Haddam fleck may have in operation certiir. ESF notors and equipment during various modes of plant operation.

Ref.

1 states that these motors will automatically be protected from degraded volt-age On:y if there is a LOCA (page 2, paragraph 3).

This means that there is no auto a:ic crotection from degraced voltage on certain ESF equipment during other modes Of operation until the voltage degrades below 2870 volts (69% of 4160V) at vi:n time the loss of voltage protection scheme would disconnect the Class 15 b. sis.

R=f. I and 3 sr.:w only manual operation for protection of ESF equia-ent f cm the degraded voltages between 93% and 69% of 4160V during all modes or operation ex:ect LOCA.

Ques-i:n:

?.ef. 2 - Position 1 requires that all Class IE equipment must be automatically

r:tec ed frc: a degraded voltage condition. Please e nlain how the Haddam
  • le-k Flant can meet this requirement with respect to ESF equipment which may
s c:n ected to a IE bus under degraded voltage conditions withcut a LOCA.
