' / " Il Pl2 ' 3 7 April 8, 1980 L-80-118 IM Mr. James P. O'Reilly, Director, Region II g@ -4.C6 Office of Inspection and Enforcement g;te U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 101 Marietta Street, Suite 3100 Atlanta, Georgia 30303
Dear Mr. O'Reilly:
Re: RII:JP0 50-250, 50-251 IE Bulletin 79-018 The purpose of this letter is to inform you that Florida Power & Light Company expects to submit the information requested in the subject Bulletin earlier for Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 than reported in our letter of March 4,1980 (L-80-65).
As discussed with Messrs. Conlin, Hardwick, and Ruff on April 1,1980, we expect to submit the 45-day response (action item 7.a) befomJune 1, 1980 and the 90-day response (action item 7.b) before July 1,1980.
These dates, which reflect a 2 to 4 month improvement in our original schedule, are based on current estimates of manpower required to complete the submittals, delays in obtaining documentation from vendors, and the expanded scope of the Bulletin.
A staff of approximately 10 engineers has been working full time towards preparing the Bulletin submittals. Considerable effort has been applied to the Bulletin, and approximately 40% of the work is complete. Our schedule continues to include this level of manpower and also provides for final review of the completed submittal, as required by our Quality Assurance Program.
Delays in obtaining documentation from vendors has slowed pro jress.
Although fewer delays have been experiencad than originally e<pected, j
delays are expected to continue, and therefo 'a add to schedular constraints.
Florida Power & Light Company considers the above dates to oe a realistic schedule for completing the remaining Bulletin work. We '.<ill, however, continue to proceed towards submitting a response at the earliest date.
Very trul yours, t
/
