I have no ~as yet received a response to my letter of June 23, 1979 (attached) in which I inquired of your position con-cerning the need of an Environmental Impact Statement covering the planned experimental decontamination of Commonwealth Edison Company's Dresden Nuclear Power Station Unit One, ne~ar Morris and Joliet, Illinois.
I remain worred over the potential consequences to the biosphere and will appreciate your early response.

20555 Lear Chaiman Hendrie, I believe it i: perative that an environmental 1: pact assess-rent be prepamd prier to the chenical decontamination planned for Comnonwealth Edison's Dresden Station, Unit one, near Morris and Joliet, Illinois, on the Kankankee ?iver.
Although our knowledge of the nigration of radionuclides within biolcgical systems and throughout the environment remains imperfect, the pubitshed account of Jeffrey Means, et al (Science, Vol. 200, 30 June 1978) unequivocally demonstrates the very sericus and unaccepcable conseq2ences decontaminate chelating agents (such as may be ured by Cc= enwealch Edison) pose for the biosphen.
I urge that you give this request for an Environnental Impact Statenent ycur close and innediate attentien and that you infom te of your view of the =atter.
