Dear Mr. Keppler:
Docket 50-305 Operating License DPR-43 IE Bulletin 79-01B, Et.vironmental Qualification of Class IE Equipment Consistent with the intent of IE Circular 78-08, and IE Bulletins 79-01 and 79-01 A, we have reviewed the qualifications of all Class IE instrumentation at the Kewaunee Plant, comparing their qualifications with their respective design specifications or the requirements specified in the Kewaunee FSAR, as applicable.
Our review showed that in all cases, the original design specifi-cations or FSAR requirements were met.
Our review was inspected and approved by representatives of your office. The applicable inspection reports are 50-305/78-20, 50-305/ 79-01 and 50-305/79-11.
In our opinion IE Bulletin 79-01B is a major expansion beyond the intent of the original bulletin. We are evaluating our instrumentation in this light and estimate that this evaluation will be complete in six months.
