Gentlemen:
This refers to the meeting conducted at our request at the North Anna Power Station
on January 28, 1980. This meeting related to the NRC action plans for near term
operating licenses developed as a result of the TMI-2 accident and was attended by
C. M. Stallings, B. R. Sylvia, W. R. Cartwright, and other members of your staff.
The subjects discussed at this meeting are included in the inspection report which
is enclosed with this letter.
It is our opinion that this meeting was mutually beneficial in identifying specific
s
safety concerns. The information provided by your staff will be considered in the
NRC's action relative to resuming the issuance of licenses to operating nuclear power
plants.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of NRC's " Rules of Practice", Part 2, Title 10,
Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection
report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
No reply to this letter is required; however, should you have any questions
concerning this matter, we would be pleased to discuss them with you.
