Subject:

James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant Docket No. 50-333 NUREG-0578, Item 2.1.3a

Dear Sir:

In response to the NRC letter of February 1, 1980, the Authority hereby informs the NRC of a delay in expected receipt of equipment associated with the system for direct indication of relief valve discharge.

The presently expected shipment date is March 28, 1980.

The reasons for the approximately two week delay in delivery are as follows:

1.

Delivery of the Hoffman control cabinet to B&W was delayed by approximately two weeks.

2.

The original estimate of delivery time was based on a standard B&W package.

The Authority has since ordered a special module for mounting in the control room, which was not part of the original scope of supply.

3.

The Authority has also ordereo spare acoustic monitors to be installed on the relief valves with provisions for switching to the spares in the control cabinet.

This was also outside the CVO original scope of supply.

U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission The Authority reaffirms our commitment for installation of the subject equipment within 30 days of receipt at the site (or to shutdown at the end of the 30 days).

In no case will operation beyond June 1, 1980 occur without installation of the subject equipment.

Very truly yours, vM
