On August 10, 1967, the Florida Power Corporation made application for necessary licenses (including a construction permit) to construct and operate a nuclear Generating Plant to be known as Crystal River Units 3 and 4.
Such nuclear facility will be operated as an integral part of our total operating system.
This letter is to advise the AEC that from our evalua-tion of predicted Mture system load growth Florida Power Corporation has concluded that construction of Crystal River Unit Ho. 4 for operation in 1974 would not constitute a prudent investment in generating capability.
In accord with this decision, the Florida Power Corpora-tion as of Monday, March 25, 1968, withdraws its application for Crystal River Unit No. 4 (Docket 50-303).
In the immediate future the application for Crystal River nuclear Generating Plant will be amended to reflect the removal of Ho. 4 unit from the plant design and show the extent which the deletion of Unit No. 4 affects Unit No. 3 (Docket 50<302).
