....w The test prog am for TMI-2 has been reviewed for modifications which may be necessary due to the failure of the RCP 2A clutch. These reconnendations assume that RCP 2A is restrained from rotation and only address the test program through the completion of zero power physics testing. The power escalation sequence test program recommendations are being developed separately.

1.

B&W has no objections to performing zero powe'r physics testing with three reactor coo ant pumps operating.

2.

OTSG special testing which requires four reactor coolant pump operation should be performed as soon as practicable after four pumps are available.

Control rod drive trip testing at hot conditions should be conducted with three pumps operating. The acceptance criterion should be changed to require trip times of less than 1.32 seconds. This value has been developed for 177 FA plants with no reactor coolant flow, hot conditions and is con-servative for three reactor coolant pump operation.

Experience has shown tnat this criterion can be met under normal four pump conditions. We do not feel that trip testing would have to be repeated under four pump condi-tions if this were acceptable to the NRC.

Reactor coolant system pressure control should be selected to the loop with two pumps operating.

Reactor Coolant System flow under steady state three pump conditions should be measured. The acceptance critorion is that total core flow rate be l

between 302,900 and 285,600 gpm (A + 2.5% uncertainty has been accounted l

for in the flow rate). When four reactor coolant pumps are available, the l

test should be repeated with the normal four p;mp acceptance criteria.

Reactor Coolant System flow coastdown should be measured during a three-l to-zero coastdown. The acceptance criterion is that measured total core flow rate at 532 F be above the curve defined by the following points:

Since the pressurizer spray flow was set during Hot Functional Testing, ne additional checks or adjustments are necessary.

Experience has shown that the HFT setting is acceptable.
