MEMORANDUM FOR:

E. Kevin Cornell tRichard C. DeYoung Robert Budnitz FROM:

Mitchell Rogovin, Director NRC/IMI Special Inquiry Group

SUBJECT:

PEER REVIEW With respect to your joint memorandum on June 19 regarding peer review, I am inclined to opt for the ser.ond approach, a number of small panels, Since assuming we can get sufficient diversity of opinion on each panel.

such an approach tends to be issue-oriented, could you have the principal panels identified with respect to the topics to be covered by Tuesday evening?

What should we expect to allocate with respect to the cost of such don-I would think flat per diem rather than separate negotiations sultantees.

would be better ince the stipend for each panel member should be the same.

I would also appreciate it if you, in conjunction with the Task Group Leaders, could propose 6 or 7 members for each panel ranking their preference so that we could start making contact with the individuals by the end of the week.
