Dear Sir:
~
In response to your letter of May 23, 1977 regarding the need for infor-mation on reactor vessel materials for the Oconee Nuclear Station, we have requested the Babcock & Wilcox Company, the supplier of the reactor vessels, to prepare the information requested. As you are aware, the majority of the requested information has previously been submitted in connection with the review for our participation in the integrated reactor surveillance program on B&W plants. As a result of the activi-ties associated with the integrated reactor vessel surveillance program, the weld material information is presently under certification review to assure all weld wire and flux heats and lots used for the surveillance program are accurately identified.
B&W will begin work in the near future on a study to investigate the uncertainty of the chemical composition of certain of the weld materials as part of the B&W integrated surveillance program.
Since the present schedules for these activities are not compatible with the requested response, it is expected that this information will be provided by September 15, 1977. This response will not include weld metal chemistry information as this will be supplied in a later submittal upon completion of the B&W study.
/
Very truly yours, 7 j
. L.
