RE: Oconee Nuclear Station Docket No. 50-249,50-270,50-287
Dear Sir:
My letter of July 8, 1977 requested revisions to the Oconee Nuclear Station Technical Specifications which would incorporate the inser-vice inspection programs required by 10CFR50.55a.
The beginning of the next 40-month inservice inspection interval for oconee units 2 and 3 is considered to be January 9, 1978.
The present inservice inspection interval for Oconee 1 began on November 15, 1976.
The purpose of this letter is to provide a detailed description of the inservice inspection program for oconee 2 and 3 as was requested by Mr. A. Schwencer's letter of November 30, 1976.
Specific relief is requested pursuant to 10CFR50.55a 5(g) (5) (iv) to certain exam-ination and testing requirements which are considered impractical for the Oconee units.
It is our interpretation of the regulations that the implementation of the inservice inspection program required by 10CFR50.55a and simultaneously the continuation of the program required by the Oconee Nuclear Station Technical Specifications is required.
Prompt revision of the Oconee Technical Specifications is requested in order to minimize the quantity of testing which is performed, and to reduce the confusion which exist when two different programs must be simultaneously performed.
It should be noted that the Oconee 1 program was submitted on October 1, 1976 and has still not been approved by the Commission.
