Dear Mr.Eisenhut:
On Marc'h 4,1980 at a meeting between the NRC, B&W and operators of B&W plants you orally requested B&W to answer the following questions by March 12, 1980:
1.
Summarize power upset events on NNI/ICS that have previously occurred at B&W plants.
2.
Identify any difference's that exist between B&W and Florida" Power on the sequence of events.
3.
Summarize B&W's recommendations for action regarding the Crystal River 3 event and other similar type events.
In partial resconse to your request enclosed are 10 copies of a preliminary report entitled, " Transient Assessment Report, Reactor Trip at Crystal River 3 Nuclear Station on February 26, 1980." The report was prepared by B&W at the request of Florida Power Corporation. The report contains the following infor-mation which you should find helpful in your investigations.
- The sequence of events as understood by B&W.
- An evaluation of system response.
- Specific recommendations based upon the Crystal River 3 event.
- Tabulations of operable instruments.

In additi; we are continuing our review of the Crystal River 3 event and other similar events and plan to submit generic recommendations in response to question 3 on March 17, 1980.
