March 10,1980 Docket No. 50-2h5 Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attn:

M.~.

H. R. Denton, Director U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.

Reference:

(1)

W. G. Counsil letter to H. R. Denton dated January 31, 1980.

Gentlemen:

Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1 TMI-2 Short-Term Lessons-Learned Implementation In the response to Item 2.1.6.a in Reference (1), Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) provided the results of the inspections for leakage for the core spray, LPSI instrumentation, and reactor recirculation sampling systems.

It was indicated that the isolation condenser system was isolated for repairs and scheduled for inspection subsequent to its restoration to service.

In fulfillment of that commitment, a valk-down of the isolation condenser external to the containment was performed when the isolation condenser was restored to service on February 12, 1980. Negligible leakage was detected.

This result is conservative with respect to the estimate provided in Reference (1). Therefore, no conditional corrective action concerning Item 2.1.6.a is planned.

Very truly yours, NORTHEAST NUCLEAR ENERGY COMPANY
