SUBJECT:

SOLICITATION OF TOPICS FOR THE ORGANIZATION OF AGREEMENT STATES ANNUAL MEETING IN PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA The 2019 Organization of Agreement States (OAS) annual meeting will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 17-20, 2020, and I am requesting topics that your office would like to present at the meeting. The membership of the OAS consists of State radiation control directors and staff from the 39 Agreement States who are responsible for implementing their respective Agreement State programs. The OAS provides a mechanism for the Agreement States to collaborate with each other and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to ensure the protection of public health and safety and the environment within the National Materials Program.

Duncan White, the NRC National Materials Program Co-Champion, and I will provide the NRCs suggested topics to the OAS Board for discussion and consideration at their board meeting in March 2020. The OAS Board is responsible for planning the annual meeting, including the development of the 2020 annual meeting agenda.

I would appreciate receiving topics, including a short description of the topics and potential speakers, by January 31, 2020. Offices interested in presenting a poster should also submit a poster title and a short description by this date. Please submit the information to Kathy Modes at 215-872-5804 or Kathy.Modes@nrc.gov. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Modes of my staff. I will notify all potential speakers whether their topics are accepted following the OAS Board meeting in March 2020.
