FORKED RIVER NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION DOCKET NO. 50-363 RESPONSE TO IE BULLETIN 79-28 In response to the action requested in the IE Bulletin No. 79-28 regarding the replacement of top cover gaskets on stem mounted limit switches, Model EA 180 with a date code between 02-79 through 08-79, manufactured by NAMCO Controls, we wish to advise you of the following:
- 1. NAMCO EA 180 switches have not been installed in any safety related equipment located inside or outside containment, as far as the Forked River Facility is concerned.
- 2. The electrical equipment assigned to the Forked River Facility is in the process of being purchased or to be delivered at a later date. Therefore, our action of examining and identifying the four digit number on the switches cannot be taken at this time.
- 3. The plans and programs, including schedules for corrective action, cannot be proposed without proper findings. However, as a pre-cautionary measure, the equipment specification for valve assemblies used in safety related circuits shall include a requirement for the vendor receiving the equipment award to certify by test, design review, and/or analysis that the stem mounted limit switches to be installed for valve operation is qualified to perform its intended function under accident conditions.
