/w W W WN W Due to the investigations of Three Mile Island tlfe NRC is required to increase the -4 gg area for emergency evacuation around nuclear power plants in case of a disastrous .

accident., they are proposing to increase the area for emergency evacuation from a 2 1/2-mi__ radius to a radius of 10-miles. It was the conclusion of the NRC that in carrying out its statutory mandate to protect the public health and safety, that they Y A must be in a position to know that evacuation plans have been revised and found adequate.

g =~ - f /xu-eh The consequences of contamination from a meltdown at Black Fox are so grave as to prohibit the building of a nuclear plant at Inola. Because an area much larger ntha %A a 10-mile radius would be contaminated in case of an accident we do not believe the plans are adequate to insure our safety. If significant interest is shown to the NRC on the issue of change in emergency evacuation plans, the NRC staff will hold p4 public meetings in the vicinity of the site to receive and discuss comments and to answer questions. Public comments are welcomed by the NRC and should be submitted on or before February 19, 1980. Write to address shown on sample g g tpqp0 letter above.
