Dear Sir:
Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit I (TMI-1)
Operating License No. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 TMI-I Ef fects of Asymmetric LOCA Loads--Phase II Status The Babcock and Wilcox Company, by their letter dated February 14, 1980 transmitted a report entitled " Effects of Asymmetric LOCA Loadings--Phase II Status", BAW-1597, dated February, 1980. By copy of this letter, we endorse the results of that report and conclude that the results are applicable to TMI-I.
Furthermore, we concur that based on results which have been produced to date, and given the conservatisms which are known to exist in the ca- ;y pressure calculations, that structural acceptability of all componen s can be demonstrated by the completion of the Phase II analysis.
Sincerely, s
J. G. Herbein Vice President Nuclear Operations JGH:LCL: hah
