Background
The Babcock & Wilcox Company, Commercial Nuclear Fuel Plant (CNFP), by application dated August 23, 1979, requested a change in the Division name from the Power Generation Division to the Nuclear Materials &
Manufacturing Division and a change in the mailing address from P.O. Box 1260 to P.O. Box 800.
The change in Division name and mailing address is necessary to reflect a change in organization.
Discussion The CNFP was formerly part of the Power Generation Division which comprised both nuclear and non-nuclear activities of the Babcock & Wilcox Company.
The new Division, the Nuclear Materials & Manufacturing Division, contains only the nuclear activities.
The former P.O. Box number was shared with the Lynchburg Research Center. The new P.O. Box number is for the use of only the CNFP.
With the formation of the Nuclear Materials & Manufacturing Division and the change in P.O. Box, the staff and procedures for the handling, use and physical protection of the special nuclear materials has not been affected. There is no change in the nuclear criticality, radiological safety or the environmental controls associated with the operation of the facility.
General The amendment application of August 23, 1979, was discussed on September 11, 1979, with G. P. Coryell, Region II (I&E) Fuel Facilities Inspector of the 8002250

CNFP facility. He saw no safety or environmental problem with the name 'nd address change.
i Conclusion The Division name change of the CNFP to the Nuclear Materials &
Manufacturing Division and the change in P.O. Box number to 800 does not affect the presently authorized nuclear criticality and radiological safety controls and procedures. They are adequate to protect the health and safety of the operating personnel, the public and the environment.
Issuance of the license amendment is reconnended.
