Dear Mr. Crow:
In the Matter of
)
Docket No. 070-02910 Tennessee Valley Authority
)
The Tennessee Valley Authority hereby requests an amendment to its special nuclear material license, SNM-1861, dated September 5, 1979, for Watts Bar Nuclear Plant unit 1.
Our application was dated June 8, 1979, and the supplement thereto dated August 17, 1979.
In our August 17, 1979, supplement, we requested authorization for storage of up to 130 fuel assemblies in the new fuel vault.
We hereby request SNM-1861 be amended to authorize storage of fuel assemblies in the spent fuel pit.
It is possible that all the high density poisioned spent fuel pit racks will be installed and ready to receive fuel by late October 1979.
Therefore, we request the amendment to SNM-1861 on or about October 15, 1979, in order to make final arrange-ments with the vendor for shipment of the 63 assemblies.
If we experience any delay in the installation of the high density poison racks that will delay our October date, we will inform you as soon as possible.
