This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. N. E. DuBry of this office on December 3, 1979, of activities at the Cimarron Facility authorized by NRC License No. SNM-928 and SNM-1174 and to the discussion of our findings with Messrs Norwood, Majors, and Kegin at the conclusion of tue inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and representative records, obser-vations, and interviews with personnel.
The inspection included DOT and NRC requirements with respect to handling, packaging, storage, and transportation of transuranic waste.
The inspector also examined actions you have taken with respect to the matters identified in your letter dated September 19, 1979. We have no further questions regarding these matters.
No items of noncompliance with NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection.
Based on discussions with your representatives at the site, we understand that procedures will be reviewed and revised as needed to reflect current requiren.e:ts and regulations of burial facilities, and state and federal organizations. We also understand that you will notify NMSS and Region III offices before the initial shipment of material from the solvent ex-traction system dismantling.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document 8002210 /
