5 1980 Docket No. 50-29 Yankee Atomic Electric Company ATTN: Mr. Donald E. Moody Manager of Operations 20 Turnpike Road Westborough, Massachusetts 01581 Gentlemen:
This refers to the letter dated December 7,1979 from Victor Stello, Jr.,
Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement to Mr. Robert Groce regarding the recently amended NRC regulations requiring, in part, that licensees provide office space as part of the Resident Inspection Program.
As a result of Presi-dent Carter's actions in response to the recommendations of the President's Commission on the Accident at Three Mile Island, the NRC plans to accelerate implementation of the resident inspection program.
Consequently, it is neces-sary to request an earlier response from you with regard to your plans for providing the office space for the resident NRC staff.
It is now expected that the first resident will assume his new duty station at your facility by May 15, 1980.
It is planned that all resident inspectors will be onsite by June 7, 1980.
As a result of this change in schedule you are requested to inform this office in writing by January 31, 1980 of your plans to accommodate the resident NRC staff at your facility.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely, y
Boyce H. Grier Directe -
