Dear Mrs. Allen:
In December 1979 the Commission considered the November 29, 1979 Decision of the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation on your September 11, 1979 letter concerning the transport of part of a steam generator removed from the Surry Nuclear Power Station. The Commission supports the Director's position on this matter as stated in his November 29, 1979 letter to you.
Inasmuch as this is a matter for the Department of Energy's (DOE) consideration, the NRC has forwarded a copy of your letter to DOE for its consideration.
The NRC will be conducting an informal review of DOE's environmental assessment, which was referred to in e Director's November 29, 1979 letter.
