SUBJECT:
ENCLOSED REPORT OF LRAKING STRONTIUM-90 SOURCES Enclosed is a letter from Victoreen, Inc. reporting the receipt of 11 leaking strontium-90 sources from ICN Corporation of Irvine, Califo rnia.
Since California is an agreement state, I reco= mend that you transmit it to the Of fice of State Programs for their infor=ation and action with respect to the potential generic problem.
Should OSP deter =ine a generic problem exists, I request they forward to ce a list o f Re gion III licensees who have received the type or source in question.
Re.gion III has contacted Mr. John C. Miller of Victoreen, Inc. to discuss the =atter further. He stated the sources in question were leak tested when received, in hatches from two months to approximately one year ago, and found to be not leaking.
Subsequent to that time, eleven sources were found to be leakers.
Mr. Miller believes a generic problem may ex.ist.
