ATTACHMENT A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION COMMONWEALTH EDISON COMPANY Docket Nos. 50-10, 50-237,' 50-249, 50-254, 50-265, 50-295 and 50-304 I.C.

The lecture title indicates abnormal and emergency procedures will be covered, yet the course description makes no mention of them.

Will abnormal and emergency procedures be included in the lecture series?

III A. Provide a separate list of manipulations for which credit will be taken for the BWR's and PWP's.

Indicate whether it is he in-tention of Comonwealth Edison to require a mix of manipulations in satisfying the requirements of 10 manipulations in a two year period. We believe a combination of manipulations more closely meets the intent of the regulation.

Further, a startup should be to the point of adding heat and a shutdown should be a plant shutdown.

In addition, an individual licensed for all three Dresden units should perform at least 3 but no more than 5 manipulations on the D-1 unit.

IV A.

What grade criterion will be used to determine the individual learned the material presented in the lectures? We believe a minimum grade of 80% should'be achieved, below which the in-dividual shculd repeat the material presented in the lectures.

.IV B.

Provide justification for the administration of the annual comprehensive written examination on more than one day. We believe an examination administered throughout an undefined time frame defeats the purpose of the annual examination; that is, to determine an individual's overall knowledge at a particular poi.nt.in time.

Further, we believe the criteria that should apply should be that an individual achieving a grade of less than 80% in any category of the annual examina-tion should be required to attend a lecture in that particular subject. And, that an individual achieving an overall grade of less than 70% on the annual examination should be removed from licensed duties in a timely manner and placed in an ac-ce'erated requalification program. The scope and duration of such an accelerated program should be determined by station management based on the individual's deficiencies.

Attachment A.

IV C. Is it the int ntion of Commonwealth Edison that an oral examina-tion be administered to each licensed individual at least once during each two year licensed interval? If not, within what time frame will these oral examinations be administered?

VI A. Indicate the lectures listed in Item 1 considered to be appropriate for fuel handlers.

VII A. Can it be inferred that the training supervisor will be the over-all coordinator of the requalification program?

If not, please provide, by title, the individual who will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of the program.
