DOCKET NOS. 50-321 50-366 Georgia Power Company ATTN: fir. W. A. Widner Vice President and General Manager 230 Peachtree Street P.O. Box 4545 Atlanta, Georgia 30302 Gentlemen:
Thank you for your letter of February 4,1980, which forwarded Check No. 910489 in the amount of $4,000 for the application dated May 22, 1979, for Hatch Unit No. 1.
Your letter also stated that checks had been lost in the mail several times and requested our suggestions on preven this from happening in the future.
A survey of the records for the past two years for your particular cases reveals that the following two checks from your Company were not received by us:
1.
A $4,000 check for the May 22, 1979 application re. Hatch 1 Reactor Protection System Power Supply and 2.
A $1,600 check for a July 12, 1979 application for Hatch Unit Nos.1 and 2 re. a 90-day extension of reporting require-ments under certain conditions.
'We suggest that your Company consider consistently listing the check number and amount as a specific enclosure to the letter of transmittal and/or application.
In this manner, it would be highlighted for the benefit of the initial sender at your Company and the initial recipient at the U. S.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC).
All checks are sent to our Branch from our mail unit. We have not had problems with checks being lost after receipt at the USNRC.
From past experience, we find that checks by companies are sometimes inadvertently not enclosed with the applications.
In such instances, we will continue to promptly notify your Company and others so that a "stop payment" process or whatever action is deemed necessary can be initiated.
Sincerely,
(\\
