Dear Mr. Mayer:

SUBJECT:

IMADVERTENT SAFETY IMJECTION DURING COCLD0W The Division of Operating Reactors has corpleted a generic bounding review on this subject and concludes that no further licensing action is necessary at this tice since it is likely that a facility could withstand core than fifty inadvertent ECCS actuations. We have concluded, hwever, that it wculd be pn: dent, should a facility experience ricre than t.;cnty-five such injections, for you to consider a plant specific analysis for that facility which would identify ricre precisely the additicnal nunber of actuations that can be safely accornodated at that facility.

A copy of our Safety Evaluation Report is enciesed.
