DESCRIPTION OF CHANGES, TESTS AND EXPERIMENTS 1979 Facility Changes requiring prior NRC approval:
None.
Facility Change not requiring prior NRC approval:
FC-77 High Pressure Service Water Pump Replacement Replaced electric motor driven high pressure service water pump with single stage end suction centrifugal pump.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-77 Containment Fire System Modification Replaced existing piping which was less than 2h" diameter with 2 " pipe and existing fire hose cabinets with 1 " lined fire hose cabinets and installed 3" dial spring pressure gauge.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-78 Fire Protection Installed new sprinkler system and fire barrier walls in the Turbine Building, and relocated the core cooling water flowmeter and flow transmitter due to interference with construction of a fire barrier wall.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-78 Forced Circulation Pump Non-Contact Vibration Pickup Installation Installed non-contact vibration pickup on each forced circulation pump and modified forced circulation pump vibration monitor to enable it to indicate readings for the non-contact pickup channels.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-78-ll - Reheat Steam Piping Replacement Replaced flash tank inlet header with stainless steel piping.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
8003060$ 3 b
FC-78 Reactor Feed Pump Oil System Installed a flexible hose in the oil supply line to provide vibration isolation between the bearing oil supply piping and the outer pump bearing housing.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-78 Replacement of the Peripheral Shroud Replaced existing peripheral shroud with shroud of new design.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-78 Installation of Additional Seal Inject Accumulator Installed new hydro-pneumatic seal inject accumulator and modified piping to existing accumulator.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-78 Insulation of High Pressure Service Water and Low Pressure Service Water Piping in Oil Storage Room Replaced fiberglass insulation on high pressure service water and low pressure service water piping located above floor level in oil storage room with 2" Owen/ Corning Kaylo 10 pipe insulation and waterproof canvas jacket.
Also covered pipe hangers with the Kaylo 10 insulation.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-79 Low Water Fuel Cutof f-Heating Boiler Installed additional independent low water fuel cutof f for the heating boiler to provide dual protection against a low water condition.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-79 Installation of Sample Line In Low Pressure Service Water System Installed 2" sample connection in low pressure service water pump discharge header in Crib House.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-79 Installation of Type "A"
Integrated Leak Rate Test System Installed new Integrated Leak Rate Test (ILRT) equipment and hooked up Data Acquisition System to the ND6600 computer for ILRT calculations.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-79 Isokinetic Flow Path for Gas Samples Installed isokinetic sampling nozzle in the stack effluent line.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
FC-79 Addition of a Switch in Control Rod Drive Secondart Position Indication Installed a switch in series with each secondary light box for control rod secondary position indication.
The safety evaluation concluded this change did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
SPECIAL TEST PROCEDURES Special Test Procedures requiring prior NRC approval:
None.
Special Test Procedures not requiring prior NRC approval:
STP-79 Inservice Inspection 10-Year System Test Procedure This hydrostatic test was conducted to verify that there has been no degradation of pressure re ta ining components of the LACBWR Primary System as observable via leakage.
The safety analysis evaluation concluded this procedure did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
STP-BOC Procedure for Certain Tests Required During the First Startup and Power Escalation Af ter the 1979 Refueling Outage This test was conducted to determine the shutdown margin and that a negative temperature coefficient was present in the new core configuration.
The test also verified performance of the Automatic Gain Control Sys tem.
The safety analysis evaluation concluded this procedure did not constitute an unreviewed safety question.
EXPERIMENTS No experiments were conducted in 1979.
