JAN j 8 1980 Docket U. 50-213 Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company ATTN: Mr. W. G. Counsil Vice President - Nuclear Engineering and Operations P. O. Box 270 Hartford, Connecticut 06101 Gentlemen:
This refers to the letter dated December 7,1973 from Victor Stello, Jr., Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement to Mr. W. G. Counsil regarding the recently amended NRC regulations requiring, in part, that licensees provide office space in order to implement the Resident Inspection Program.
As a result of President Carter's actions in response to the recommendations of the Presidant's Commission on the Accident at Three Mile Island, the NRC plans to accelerate implementation of the Resident Inspection Program.
Consequently, it is necessary to request an earlier response from you with regard to your plans for providing the office space for the resident NRC staff.
-It is now expected that the first resident will assume his new duty station at your facility by March 31, 1980.
It is planned that all resident inspectors will be onsite by June 7, 1980. As a result of this change in schedule, you are requested to inform this office in writing by Ja'1uary 31,1980 of your plans to accommodate the resident NRC staff at your facility.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely, e
H. Grier Director cc:
